This painting was created out of a heartbreaking story: the story of a young girl so desperate to escape a forced m*rriage that she resorted to poisoning her husband. In her despair, a tragedy unfolded, and many innocent lives were lost. But behind this act lies a pain that words can barely touch: the unbearable torment of a girl trapped in a life she never chose.

Forced m*rriage is not love. It is not culture. It is a violent theft of a child’s future, her body, her soul. It is nothing but r*pe, carried out with the approval of families, communities, and sometimes even laws. The world may look away, call it tradition, pretend it is normal, but for the girls who live through it, it is a life sentence of fear, trauma, and silent screams.

No child or even adult should ever have to face such desperation, to believe that her only way out is through an act of destruction. This painting does not only tell the story of one girl, it gives a voice to the countless girls and women who live unseen, whose suffering is hidden behind closed doors, whose freedom is stolen before they even understand the word.

In no world should official r*pe be allowed to exist. In no world should a girl’s only hope for freedom should be tied to tragedy.
