Story behind this artpiece: Sometimes outsiders recognize what's happening in an ab0sive situation, sometimes they don't. If no one notices or intervenes, the person being ab0sed needs to sense that something is wrong. Most of the time we somehow know that we are suffering, yet we don't always understand why. Often we cannot pinpoint exactly what is causing the pain. Are we overreacting, or is it really the other person? Victims try to make sense of the situation and do everything but leave. That mental chaos increases our helplessness. Still, we know we are not living the life we should be living. We are in darkness: the darkness of the shadow cast by the perpetrator. Escape is possible. Change begins in the mind. As in my painting, you can step out of the shadow gradually. It is absolutely worth it. Remember: we deserve more, even if we cannot imagine it yet.
